[PPL-devel] Merging the `strict' branch

Dear all,

I will now merge the `strict' branch to the main trunk.
Please, avoid committing changes to the repository
until the merge is finished (this is not strictly
required, but it would make my life easier).
I will send a note to the list when everything is done.
